About me

Peri Taylor - Artist

I became a commercial artist in 2005, following a career in marketing communications for a variety of financial services companies. Throughout my career I enjoyed attending evening classes where I worked in a variety of media at:

The City Lit - Covent Garden, Kensington & Chelsea College and Bristol School of Art.

About six years ago whilst doing an OCN in life drawing & painting, I was introduced to the artist Graham Dean, who worked in watercolour & ink. I found that I loved the challenge of working wet on wet with this mixed media.

Although,I began painting nudes,I soon applied the technique to different subjects such as flowers, boats and abstract work. I then increased the use of ink to take advantage of the vibrancy of colour, experimenting with sea salt/cling film to give added texture and marks. During the last year I have introduced other media to my work.

I have been inspired by many artists work over the years including: Paul Klee, Seurat, Whistler, Raphael (nude sketches),Pissarro, Monet (flowers & Venetian paintings), Degas (ballet dancers & sculptures), Mary Cassatt, Henry Moret, Dufy and Bonnard.

I have exhibited at the following venues:
November 2007 - Centrespace Gallery, Bristol
January 2007 - The Severn Shed, Bristol
November/December 2006 - The Royal Academy of West of England (Friends)
November 2006 - The North Bristol Arts Trail
July 2006 - Clifton Arts Club
November 2005 - The North Bristol Arts Trail
